Online games lag on Windows 7 RTM
I have installed Windows 7 RTM day before yesterday on my dekstop. My desktop has a AMD Athlon 64-Bit processor, 1.5 GB RAM, MSI motherboard and 80 GB hard disk. I am not aware of the graphical support of my desktop. I am not that technically sound in computer hardware. Its just that when I go online to play online games, they all lag. This was not the issue with Windows XP, which I was earlier using. I am using Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) to play online games.

I do not think that the Windows 7 RTM is responsible for lagging your online games. I have used Windows 7 RTM and now currently using Windows 7 Home Premium. I guess you have to upgrade your RAM from 1.5 gigs to 2 gigs as you are using a 64-Bit processor. Also use Mozilla Firefox browser to play online games rather than the Internet Explorer. Also download the Java Runtime Environment required to play online games.

Check whether the internet connection is proper. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and check whether your internet speed is slow or not. There can be that your internet speed might have slowed down due to some issues from the ISPs side. This happened in my case when I installed Windows 7 on my Acer laptop and the net connection was quite slow, but latter on I learnt that it was an issue with the ISP and not the Windows operating system.

In my opinion if Windows XP didnot have any issues with online games then Windows 7 RTM also should not have any issues as well. See if your LAN cable is damaged or broken. If possible take all the data back-up and re-install the Windows 7 RTM. Do not dual boot Windows XP and Windows 7 RTM together. If still the online games lag contact your computer technician.
