Virus Changing my internet settings
I had a Compaq laptop. The laptop is affected by virus when I connected it to my office wireless network. I had Norton in my laptop. The virus disabled my Norton auto protect icon on the system tray. Norton is also not scanning the mails in my outlook. Then when I connect my dial up connection the browser is not displaying any page. In internet option I had choose dial a connection if not present but changes automatically to never dial a connection after restart. Any how my friend gave me Norman Antivirus. But after few days the Norman Virus control settings grayed out. Any help really appreciated.

The virus attack has damaged your Norton Antivirus program. The best option will be install the antivirus back again. Then run the antivirus scan under safe mode. Before that try to run a adware program and spyware program. Then in safe mode run a full system scan. Always whenever you try to connect to a new network always keep your firewall on. The firewall blocks the unwanted incoming connections.

A small editing in windows registry file can sort the issue of dial up connection. The settings in dial up is changing because the virus has change the registry value of the connection. Go to edit it go to start menu and click on run. Then type regedit. The look for the below value and set the registry value as per listed in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
1). The registry value to never dial a connection is set as :
NoNetAutodial - 00000000
EnableAutodial - 00000000
2). To set the value to dial a default connection always :
NoNetAutodial - 00000000
EnableAutodial - 00000001
3). To set the value for dialing connection when there is not other network connection available :
NoNetAutodial - 00000001
EnableAutodial - 00000000

Re: Virus Changing my internet settings
The NVC services when grayed it makes difficult to install the antivirus. To enable it go the norman folder in C:\Program Files\Norman\Config. Copy the config.ndf file. Then navigate to the folder C:\Program Files\Norman\Distrib\NVC\Config and paste the file in that. Then double click on the file to open. It will give you error but after the option can be accessible. Other thing if you think that your system is under threat then just backup your data and reinstall windows. A clean installation can clear out the problem.
