What is limit of Exmerge pst file
Hi,
I was trying to export my mailbox to a personal folder by the Microsoft Exchange Server Mailbox merger wizard. It does a bit then error comes up the item cannot be moved and the process stopped. I did not understand the reason behind this. Does the outlook folder has some size limitation. Of yes then what is the size and how can I move the mailbox above that limit. What are the alternative solutions for that. Thanks.

Re: What is limit of Exmerge pst file
This problem occurs under two conditions. The first one is when you try to export you mailbox data form Microsoft Outlook 2003. And the second on if the outlook mailbox is not larger than 2 GB. That means the folder in outlook has limit of 2 GB. If the mail box exceeds the limit you cannot move the mailbox data. It is not possible. Only thing you can do is that get a limited amount of mailbox data and then store it separately.

Re: What is limit of Exmerge pst file
The problem is due to the ExMerge tool. Because Exmerge does not supports the unicode .pst files. While unicode is a .pst file format of outlook 2003 which is set by default. This makes the limit of .pst file upto 20Gb. When you try to export the data from Outlook the Exmerge tool reads the data in the form of ANSI format. This format only allows a 2 GB limit to the pst files. To resolve the issue do this. Delete all the unnecessary mails and ask the mailbox owner to create a .pst file on this local computer. This will make the file merge to 2GB.

No there is no way to get a higher .pst file. The only last limit is 2GB. The ExMerge tool is useless if the mailbox exceeds the limit. There is solution but it is very time consuming. You will have export each folder and group individually instead of selecting all at once. This will reduce the size and can export the file. But if you have huge data then you will consume more time. Still there is no way to exceed the limit of file.
