Browsing Application For The iPhone

According to MacRumors, a small bunch of browser apps were recently let into the App Store. They include the free Edge Browser, the historyless Incognito ($1.99), the tabbed WebMate ($0.99), and something called Shaking Web ($1.99) that attempts to make Web sites easier to read.
Web applications — or web apps — combine the power of the Internet with the simplicity of Multi-Touch technology, all on a 3.5-inch screen. iPhone and iPod touch let you easily flick through news on Digg, play Sudoku or Bejeweled with a finger tap, and quickly check movie times, train schedules, and favorite blogs.
Here are four new applications picked out by MacRumors:

  • Edge Browser--a free web browser.
  • Incognito--a $1.00 tool for anonymizing your browsing.
  • Shaking Web--a visual stabilizer for the iPhone's screen costing $1.99.
  • WebMate:Tabbed Browser--an app that queues up your intended web links for later visiting that costs $0.99.
What's interesting is that Apple has previously rejected applications for "duplicating functionality" of some of their own software. Specifically, Podcaster was rejected because it "...duplicates the functionality of the Podcast section of iTunes," while MailWrangler was denied for duplicating "...the functionality of the built-in iPhone application Mail without providing sufficient differentiation or added functionality."
