Hello , go to tools>accounts and ensure that you do not have two instances of the same account set up. If so remove one of them. Turn off any applications that are set to scan your mail. Norton and MacAfee products do not work well with WM. Other free AV applications are available on the net. AVG or Avast.Try running WMUtil read the instructions on the site, pay particular attention to the text in the Red box.

Re: Duplicate Mails on Windows Mail
This is typically caused by one of the following two possibilities:
1. You have two identical email accounts in Windows Mail. If so,
delete one.
2. You are running a non-compatible antivirus such as McAfee or
Norton. If so, uninstall them and replace with the free Avast antivirus
.

Re: Duplicate Mails on Windows Mail
It is your Anti Virus that is causing this.. Norton,MacAfee and Trend has to be uninstalled completely using their uninstall tool located at their site and then re-installed without the email integration (email scanning) or otherwise just by turning the email scanning feature off it will not work or correct the issue.
