You can view the article about this problem on Microsoft’s web site at:

Re: Mshtml.dll crash
Doesn't look to be caused by malware.

The most common cause of this is from Google Desktop. If you use it disable the Web History checkbox in Google Desktop indexing options

If you are not using Goggle desktop not sure what else to offer. Although as your problem has to do w/ Goggle also it must along similar lines.

Re: Mshtml.dll crash
ARe you using Windows Millenium Edition... This is a fairly common error in Windows Me and some versions of Windows 98?SE. using older versions of Internet Explorer 6. You can buy Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or 6.1 on disc for cost of postage from www.microsoft.com, or download the full version and reinstall it. It is also an error in Windows versions that are installed from an older disk of Windows Me or Windows 98.

The easiest fix is to reinstall Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or 6.1 from Disc, which is available free from Microsoft, or from your friendly neighborhood geek.

It is caused by using an old version of MSHTML.DLL which gives you the error message:

Iexplore.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you view the data that the error report contains, the following error signature information is listed:

5.50.4134.100 various

Internet Explorer 6 requires MSHtml.dll version 6.0.2600.0. The error message may occur if you are using a different version of MSHtml.dll such as 5.50.4134.100. An incorrect verion of this dynamic link library (DLL) can cause an access violation, and thus the problem you report.

To resolve this issue, you can download the correct file from http://dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mshtml
or search within www.dll-files.com

You have to remove the old version from the "C:\Windows\sysbackup" directory. Thats where Windows keeps such information.

To download and reinstall Internet Explorer 6, you can find it at

http"//www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/ie6/default.asp

Method 2:

Re-extract Mshtml.dll from the Internet Explorer version 6 cabs. To do so, follow the steps listed for your operating system. For Windows ME:

1. Click Start. Click Run, type msconfig, and then click ok.
2. Click Extract.
3. Type ie_1.cab, and then click start.
4. In the restore from field, type c:\windows\woindows update setup files.
5. In the Save As field, type c:\windows\windows update setup files, and then click ok.
6. When you receive a prompt to backup the file to C:\Windows\helpdesk\sfc, click Yes or OK
7. If you receive the following prompt, click Yes or OK:
The backup folder does not exist. Do you want to create it.
8. If you receive a dialog box that says: "the file was successfully extracted, click ok
9. Click Start, Click Run, Type msconfig, and then click OK
10 Click Extract
11. Type Mshtml.dll, and then click start.
12. In the Restore from field, type C:\Windows\windows update setup files.
13. In the Save as field, type C:\windows\system, and then click ok.
14. When you receive a prompt to backup that file to C:\Windows\Helpdesk\Sfc, click Yes or OK
15. When you receive a dialog box that says: The file was successfully extracted, Click Ok
16. Close System file Checker and then restart the computer.
