Searching the Internet would be good for our brains
According to a survey whose results were made public on Tuesday, the online search would be beneficial because it would stimulate the brain and improve its operation.
A research center on aging and memory attached to the University of California has just released a study whose results are quite interesting.
The study was conducted with the participation of 24 people aged between 55 and 76 years and showing no brain problem. Half of them used the Internet regularly, while the other half not. The distribution by sex, age and level of training was the same in both parties.
During that patients read or looking on the Internet, a scanner observed the activity of their brain. They are being read or search on the Internet, patients have shown in both cases a significant brain activity. But the most interesting was found among those being search on the Internet, specifically among those regularly engaged in this activity, which showed brain activity much more intense. According to the researchers, the Internet search thus enables the middle-aged and elderly to stimulate their brains and improve its functioning, including decision making and reasoning complex.
Dr. Gary Small, author of the study and director of research center, says his comments: "Our most striking discovery was that the subjects doing research on the Internet appeared mobilize more neural circuits that are not stimulated by reading But only those with experience of Internet search (...) The Internet search complex stimulates the brain which could help the brain work and improve its functioning. "
